Three years ago today, three team members from Jog were in Cairo along with photographer Timothy Soar. We were putting the finishing touches to our work for the Cairo International Book Fair, then revolution took hold. You can read more about what happened here: http://www.designweek.co.uk/home/blog/creatives-in-cairo/3023347.article

Looking back at the Design Week article the following quote stands out: ‘Whatever happens now there will be a real shift in power in Egypt – Mubarak has been in power for 30 years and there is no structure to replace him. We got to know a lot of people in Cairo very well and we really feel for them.’

On the ground it was obvious to us at the time that, in spite of the jubilation, the power shift would not be easy. You simply can’t replace dictatorship with democracy in the wave of a hand, or even a million hands. Our thoughts are still with the people of Cairo and of Egypt.
